Meet the candidates for District 14 rep. race
CONCORD - A special primary election to fill the vacant District 14 state representative seat formally held by Gary Wheaton will be held July 5 in each of the four towns near Seabrook, Hampton Falls, Kensington and South Hampton.
The key is to decide where Democrats and Republicans will face off in special election on September 6.
A special election was called after a Wheaton resigned April 5 after Hampton police accused him of speeding and driving after his license had been suspended following a conviction reckless driving.
Wheaton is now seeking to recover the seat and is one of five candidates for the Republican nomination.
The other candidates are Lou Gargiulu Hampton Falls, Seabrook Dennis Sweeney, Kevin Janvrin of Seabrook and Albert "Max" Abramson, also of Seabrook
On the Democratic side, it is a battle between Ryan Mahoney of South Hampton and Mark Preston of Seabrook.
Seabrook Selectmen Brendan Kelly is running for the seat as a Libertarian in the special election.

1.) Why did you decide to run for the open seat?
I'm running because it is time to return some common sense in Concord.I am very concerned about the legislation that was pushed through the House that could destroy our education system, make us less safe, and families devastated NH middle class. We must regain our focus and work of all parties to find solutions. We should be strengthening our economy without raising taxes and working to bring high-paying jobs to our state. These are the kind of sense of priorities that the people of Hampton Falls, Kensington, Seabrook, South Hampton and expect from their government and are what I bring to the State House.
