Lois Irene Gibbens
Irene Lois Gibbens of Hornbrook, beloved mother and grandmother, died suddenly June 14, 2011. Lois was born in Franklin, Pennsylvania, in April 1933. The family moved to California Gibbens in the mid-1940.
After graduation from Redondo Beach High School, she went to work as a telephone operator, a seamstress, then as a school bus driver. Lois moved his family to Redding in 1968. She continued to drive school buses, even after she moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1973.
She retired and moved to Siskiyou County, where she owned and operated the Hornbrook RV Park and store.Lois exploited the RV Park for nearly 30 years, until the time of his death.
Lois has an extensive collection of Blue Willow China, and his kitchen was completed. She had several dogs, the last being his beloved party Buttons Toy Poodle. For two of her grandchildren that she will always be called "Grandma with buttons." Lois loved garden, and his family enjoyed their strawberry-rhubarb crunch due to its own garden. Lois saved every edition of Sunset magazine for Project home she could do in the future.
Previous laws in death are Gladys and Alfred Gibbens (parents), his brother Al Gibbens and his son Rodney Dunn.
She is survived by her son Chuck Brady and his wife Anita Redding, his daughter Pam Brady Redding, his son Bob Dunn and his wife Kimberly of Huntington Beach, his daughter Cindy Moore Hornbrook, his sister Twila Wright, the Arkansas, his partner for the last four years, Mike McVey and several grandchildren.
Local services will be held at the Hornbrook Community Church Monday, July 25, 2011 at 15:00A private funeral will be held at Lawncrest Memorial Cemetery in Redding the next day. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Kay Bryan Memorial Park Store Thrift, PO Box 235, Hornbrook, CA 96044-0235.
