Program formed for children with disabilities
The Southern Illinois Soccer League and Special Olympics Illinois forming a TOPSoccer program for the Southern Region of Illinois.
TOPSoccer opens the game of football with a boy or a girl who has a mental or physical disability.
The program will begin Saturday, August 20. Clinic four hours will be 8:30 to 12:30 at the sports family in Belleville. Cost for the program of the year will be $ 25. The cost covers a TOPSoccer T-shirt, registration fee and a medal at the end of the season.
Tentatively, the program presented its first year.Clinics will be a monthly Saturday of August to February in an area of metro-east. March to June a league of small-sided game will be offered. A closing ceremony will be June

Julie Foudy, who won two Olympic gold medals in football and was on the two women's World Cup winning teams in the United States, supports the program.
"He brings a sense of accomplishment and joy to children who otherwise would have to sit on the sidelines," Foudy said in a statement. "Parents can not praise enough, the siblings enjoy helping and cheers, the laughter of children and enthusiasm are contagious. In the program, everyone comes off a winner.
